Africa Oye 2015 - world music photography

Published on Wed Jun 24, 2015 by

Africa Oye is the UK's largest FREE African music festival and it just keeps improving year on year. It is an Oye Family now - a solid crew of management and trustees and an audience that knows how to party ! The committment to local traders and community groups is second to none and it shines a beacon against corporate sponsorship and heavy handed security. Personally, it's my favourite as well - brilliant world music to my doorstep. I've been covering the event now for ten years, ever since I moved to Liverpool and I supply images of the live acts to specialist agent ArenaPAL, where I have built up quite an archive. Images have been licenced to a wide variety of national and international publications over the years - and fingers crossed this year's collection will do equally well over time.

Anyway on to a small selection of my favourites from the stage.

Please get in touch to licence images or if you organise a world music event. I regularly travel and attend music festivals across the UK and Europe. In the past I have covered Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF), Boomtown Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Big Chill, WOMAD, T In The Park, Chester Rocks and the Mathew Street Festivals, the Berlin Love Parade, Warehouse Project, Creamfields, Liverpool Psych Fest and the Love Music Hate Racism festival. Far too many gigs to list - personal highlights include the Wu Tang Clan during their last UK tour.

"If you are looking for a creative and reliable event photographer, David is your guy. I commissioned him to travel to London to cover a business event where we were exhibiting and to also capture some staff portraits of the exec management team. His fees were competitive and his attitude totally positive & fun. David is an excellent photographic supplier. I highly recommend his services."
