Like all photographers I have a number of completed and ongoing personal projects. My main interest over the last few years has been social issues and how they manifest themselves via protests. I've been covering UK Uncut actions and documenting direct action, student demonstrations and protests for a number of years. Most recently was the Bank of Love protest and occupation here in Liverpool. I've got a large collection of protest photography on my Tumblr blog. Quite a few images have been licenced and used in national and international press and I also exhibited a selection as part of Look 11 Festival . Finally I am working with a number of academics doing research into evolving street protests and their photography and have presented my work and experiences in a module called Photography and Protest at Liverpool John Moores University.
Another on-going area of my work is coverage of world music events and festivals and am represented by several specialist image libraries. Obviously if you have an interesting event, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Again loads of music photography on my Tumblr.
Also I love street art and try to document it on my travels - again my Tumblr is the best place to see my graffiti and stencil photography
2019 is going very well so far. I've been busy and contuning some long term projects. But of course, please get in touch, if you thing we can work together on something interesting - always open to new ideas !
Finally, away from all the events that I work at, I try to find some time to venture out into the countryside and look for the perfect trees to photograph. Indeed it's been a little project over the last few years, capturing trees against a minimal landscape.
A documentary piece of work examining an unseen urban experience in one of Liverpool’s iconic buildings. It looks at an emptiness left after humans have departed; the waste, graffiti, the obscure messages and attempts to tell the story of a building from the inside out. Read more...
"I have employed David many times over the years, principally as a music conference and high profile event photographer. He is always easy to work with, has a strong sense of what style is needed for each project and brings back results on deadline. He is skilled, experienced and understands visual language and lighting. Additionally, David often helps secure additional PR and media coverage."
